Hi,
I am a 29 year old, Indian, male currently living in Virginia. I would really appreciate if you could assess my chances at top 5 US B schools.
Profile summary :
1) EDUCATION : BS in civil Engineering from top 15 University in India (GPA 8.2/10). Masters in Environmental & Water Resources from Virginia Tech, USA (GPA 4.0/4.0)
2) WORK EXPERIENCE : i) Worked in India with BHEL (one of the largest engineering firm). Worked on environmental assessment of thermal and hydro power sites, handled a team of 5 people. Left the job after 2 years to follow my passion of becoming an Environmental specialist/consultant and joined Virginia Tech for next 2 years.
ii) Post Masters, got an opportunity to work with ARCADIS ( one of the largest environmental firm worldwide) for their design and consulting group. For the past 2 years, involved in some challenging and interesting projects of Flood protection analysis, Assessment and Design of water distribution system for towns/cities of Virginia. Coordinated with Public utility clients, EPA regulations .
3) EXTRACURRICULAR :i) Currently serving as the Vice President of Engineers without Borders, Central Virginia Chapter. Working on 3 different clean water projects located in Honduras, Guatemala and Zambia.
ii) Board member of Environmental division of American Society of Civil Engineer (ASCE), Virginia since 2011. Served as the Chair for 2014 session. Organized Technical sessions, provided mentor ship to VCU university students on different community based projects.
iii) Started an Initiative program connecting non profits working on water and sanitation challenges in India with International development organizations. The program is still continuing and in its initial stages of success.
4) Publications : Have more than 3 conference presentation and journal papers relevant to the field of Environmental and Water Resources.
5. Awards/ Honors : i) Awarded Membership of Chi Epsilon & Phi Kappa Phi Honor societies. ii) Won twice graduate paper award competition organized by ASCE for young professionals. iii) Awarded Undergraduate Excellence Award for active participation in student club activities (quite old, in 2008 possibly).
6) GMAT : 730 (QA 50, Verbal 39)
I wish to expand my role from being a technical expert to bringing best management practices into the environmental and water based challenges affecting the developing nations.
Target Schools : HBS, Sloan, Booth, Haas, Yale, ISB, LBS
Please let me know my realistic targets. I know HBS may not be within reach, but i still want to make a try . I am making my application round 2 this year.
