Hi GMAT Club Peers,
Trader at Investment Bank looking to enroll in Wharton EMBA. I’m looking for a gauge of my chances. Not looking on opinions on taking EMBA as I’m set on the value add it brings via expanding my learning, networking, brand building.
Experience:
- 12y working experience, 5 in Hedge Funds, 7 in one of the largest European banks, my current job
- Book / business runner the whole time. Trader Assoc to VP to Director in 7 years. Front Office position
- Managed 1 Assoc over last 2 years
- Met budget of 20M every year
- Top 15 percentile of performers trading floor wide. FWIW
- Likely able to get great LOR from regional Desk Head
Academics, stats:
- Target school (Duke/Cornell/UChicago) with 3.5, Math, CompSci double major
- Recent GRE 154V, 169Q, equivalent to 690 GMAT
- I took the GMAT but more than 5y ago. 690, 38V/47Q
- Represent bank as winner in conference paper
- 1 math publication with UWash Professor in World Scientific journal
- 2 trading publications in then Futures Magazines but more than 8 years old
What chances you give me for Wharton EMBA? The mainly blocking point for me is retaking GMAT to get like a 710, their median. If I know that submitting GRE is simply a check box to tick, perhaps boosted with a very high Quant Score, then I feel more motivate to focus on application knowing that good execution in there will get me through the door.
Sincerely,
D
