Question

Hi ,

I have a GMAT score of 580 . 7 Years Work exp in IT .Currently working as architect . My B .E ( engineering ) is on a lower side ( 61% aggregate). I would like to know whether applying for Copenhagen Business School (R 2) will be suitable for my type of profile ? I am looking for a september intake course as I cannot wait until next year . Also , I am planning on writing my GMAT again to bring my score to 650 level . Is it something I should try for CBS or should I focus on my application . I would also like to take help from an admission consultancy in India , please suggest some good ones .

Hi there,

With their average GMAT being closer to the 650 level, certainly bumping yours up, especially with less than exceptional undergrad stats, would help! There are many factors to consider but if you have been doing GMAT prep recently... and/or have score better on reputable practice tests... and/or have begun work on your essays.... any or all of those would lean towards going ahead and re-taking the GMAT sooner rather than later. But even if not, I'd still consider it....maybe with a prep course or tutor if you have not made use of those? That said it looks like time is running short for that April deadline so depends how much work you still need to put in for the essays, and whether you have requested your recommendations, etc. As for consultants, while our company is based in the US, we work with clients around the globe including plenty in India and other parts of Asia, so feel free to let us know how we can help. Hello , I could not retake the GMAT and have decided to apply with current GMAT score . Copenhagen has round 3 ( final deadline) on may 17th . Could you please please let me know whether its right to apply in Round 3 ? I am asking about Copenhagen business school specifically .

Hello! This is Kate, I'm jumping in for Jen since she's currently on leave.

So your question about whether it is "right" to apply is difficult to answer because I'm not sure how much work you've already done on your application. Have you secured your recommendations? Have you started on the essays? It can take quite a bit of time to do all of this plus things like short answer questions and updating your CV, so if you haven't started then I think it will be tough (but not impossible) to meet that deadline.

But I think the more important question is how does applying now with a below average GMAT impact your chances? And I think to be honest it will be tough. As Jen pointed out, their average is closer to 650, so applying with your current score will be a concern. Applying in later rounds is often tougher too, since much of the class has already been filled. If you're willing to take this risk and dedicate the time needed to execute a really solid application in the next two weeks, then go for it. Just know that you may need to have a backup (which could be retaking the GMAT this summer and then re-applying in the Fall or also applying to a safer program now).
