Hispanic Male applying R2 this cycle
GPA: 3.3 in Anthropology from Top 10 US university (non-HYP)
GMAT: 710 (47Q/40V/8IR/6AWA) Only took GMAT once. Hesitant to take again because while I consistently scored a higher composite, I had splits of 43-44Q/46-47V.
W/E: 8 years at matriculation with all of my W/E in sales & trading. Currently work in portfolio finance at an elite hedge fund with top name recognition.
Activities outside of work:
    1. For the four years post-graduation, I competed in a sport where I was ranked top 100 in the world (Olympic sport with little to no $$ it you aren't top 5-10).
    2. My spouse and I are very active in an urban mentoring program and ended up fostering a child for two years that was part of that program.
    3. In addition to mentoring, I coached a youth club for the same sport as above. Extremely successful.
Post-MBA: Investment banking

Dream: GSB (applying for Bonini Fellowship), Wharton, HBS
Reach: Booth, Kellogg
Applying via Consortium to: Ross, Haas, Tuck

FWIW, I completed my undergrad at one of the Dream/Reach schools (not H). Spouse is an alum of one of the Consortium schools. I have no decided whether or not I will apply to each of the Dream/Reach schools and I am looking for some insight there. I have a somewhat interesting background and compelling story. Both myself and my spouse are URM.

Hi @jeromemorrow, thanks for reaching out. My comments are below.
GPA: 3.3 in Anthropology from Top 10 US university (non-HYP)
GMAT: 710 (47Q/40V/8IR/6AWA) Only took GMAT once. Hesitant to take again because while I consistently scored a higher composite, I had splits of 43-44Q/46-47V. a higher score is always better- but this score is high enough to put your hat in the ring if you really don't want to retake- plus you are about out of time for R2 testing anyway

    bringing out your motivation for doing this along with what you learned from the experience could make your application more memorable
    3. In addition to mentoring, I coached a youth club for the same sport as above. Extremely successful.
Post-MBA: Investment banking
I'd say go for it on your list but also add a few more in target area as that is important too. and if you want to have scholarship options, go ahead and add some safety schools to list.

As long as you are also looking at Consortium why not also look at some places where you might also get some significant funding- UNC, Georgetown come to mind.

[color=#2e3192]Keep in mind that a strong application- especially to H/S/W takes some time for both self reflection and knowledge building in what the school offers that appeals to you. So if you can go deeper in your research on fewer schools that may serve you well. It can also help to have a consultant working with you to gain more targeted insight about resonates for schools on your list. I think H/S is a stretch for most- but again a well prepared essay will stand out so I encourage you to not "phone it in" but really take the time to do a good job on the applications you submit. Yale's question about the biggest commitment you have ever made seems like it would be interesting to mention your commitment to foster child- that is really exceptional for a young adult early in their life to take that on.
