Hi,
Please find below the salient details of my profile:
1) Gender: Male
2) Nationality: Indian
3) Age: 26
4) GMAT Score: 730 (Q49, V41, IR 8, WAT 5.5)
5) Education: Bachelors in Arts in Economics (Honours) from a top tier college (St. Stephen's College) in India. Currently a CFA Level III candidate (exam was supposed to happen in June 2020, then December 2020 and has now been postponed to May 2021, but hopefully before applying next year I will become a CFA Charterholder)
6) UG Grade: First class (63%)
7) School Grades: X: 9.6, XII: 94%
8) Work experience: As of now, I have a total of 4.75 years of work experience. I've been working in a front-end role at a boutique IB firm for the past 4 years. Over this time, I have been promoted from an Analyst to Associate, Senior Associate and now AVP. I’m responsible for leading 3-member teams for end-to-end execution of mandates, starting from deal origination (target identification, research and client pitching) to documentation, disbursement/capital infusion and relationship management. I have successfully closed 12 transactions with a cumulative deal size of ~INR 2,100 Cr. (~$287 million) for a diverse set of corporates in the Infrastructure, Renewable Energy and E-Mobility sectors. Prior to that, I was working as a Revenue Analyst at a food-tech SaaS startup for ~9 months.
Promotions: 3 promotions over 4 years
International experience: I've worked with a few clients based out of US, UK and Dubai.
9) Extracurriculars: I haven't done much in the form of extracurriculars. I like to travel alot and I organized 3 annual college trips with average group sizes of 100+. I've also visited 4 countries as well as 16 states/UTs in India. I am also a foodie, and have dined at 300+ restaurants across 15 different cuisines over the past 5 years. I am also a member of the New Delhi YMCA.
10) Reason to do MBA: To ensure that there is no glass ceiling stopping me in career progression, and that I can combine the technical knowledge that I have gained from the CFA course with the holistic understanding of management disciplines as well as networking that an MBA from a reputed college provides. I also want to gain foreign exposure and consider this to be an appropriate path for the same.
11) Post-MBA career goals: Working in buy-side firms (PE, VC) for a few years as this would allow me to advance my understanding of the functioning of both buy-side as well as sell-side firms. My long-term goal is to setup a business of my own, focused on travel and/or food.
I am looking to switch jobs now to a bigger firm and brand name, and wanted your advice on that too given my application timelines (in terms of professional recommendations). Wanted to also know if I should attempt to retake the GMAT to get a 750+ score as a way to boost my chances?
I want to study and work in Europe and hence, my first priority is LBS, keeping in mind the UK Visa regulations and job opportunities. I would be grateful if you could assess my chances of being admitted at LBS and let me know of things that I should work on, given that I plan to apply next year. Please also advise on other schools that I should target, given that my aim is to settle in Europe for a few years.
Thank you very much for your time.
