Hello everyone! I would love to receive you honest feedback for my profile.
1) Basic demographic info: age 28, Male, Chilean
2) Educational Background: Bachelor in Business Administration at Chile’s top business school (Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile). GPA: 4.9 on a scale of 1.0 to 7.0. Graduation rank: 216 out of 323. GMAT score 730 (Q49, V41, IR8).
3) Work experience: 4 years and 2 months of experience in Management & Strategy Consulting at Integration Consulting. I have been promoted 4 times - faster than peers. I’ve worked on over 15 impactful and diverse projects in Chile, Argentina, Colombia, Brazil, Guatemala and Ecuador. I currently hold a leadership role in my office (southern cone: Chile + Argentina) as a Co-manager, which means that I am co-responsible for team allocation, P&L, office and team management, among others.
4) Extracurriculars: I've been volunteering regularly since college, mainly in education (as a volunteer teacher of mathematics, English and entrepreneurship), in social causes (housing construction and community services) and more recently been advising foundations on sales and planning strategy (mainly human rights and transgender rights organizations in Chile). Also, very active as a teaching assistant of over 6 courses in university, and participated in 2 investigations as a research assistant.
5) Short/Long term goals:
- Short/medium term: To return to Consulting at my firm to lead its growth from a small / boutique firm in Chile to becoming a strong local player.
- Long term: To lead, as a managing partner, the expansion of my consulting firm into new markets, such as Peru and Colombia.
6) Schools: My dream school is MIT. Would love to get into Wharton, Harvard and Stanford. Any top 10 would be great as well.
My main concern is my GPA. My GPA is a 4.9 on a scale of 1.0 to 7.0 (Chilean standard grading system). I am finding it difficult to convert that grade into the American system, but from what I've been researching, it is around a 2.6 - 3.3. My university's guidelines indicate that the appropriate conversion for that grade would be to a B+ (3.3), but I know that universities use their own metrics, so they might consider my GPA to be much lower.

Thank you for sharing your profile. Your profile looks good on the surface. Starting with stats, your undergrad GPA is on the lower side, but you can compensate for it with your GMAT score. Your GMAT score is decent and shows your ability to tackle MBA curriculum. Your essays, work profile, and how smartly you weave the narrative will play a much greater role.
On the work front, your work experience sounds good. I can see a good career trajectory. You will need to explain your career progression and how you perform better than your peers. Highlight the projects and responsibilities you have undertaken and their impact on the organization’s growth and development. You must talk about the instance where you were in a leadership role, this will add leadership attributes to your profile. MIT stresses highly on leadership and candidate’s ability to inspire others. If you are targeting fall 2021 deadlines, you may want to read an article on How to maximize your chances for fall deadlines to get some insights.
Your ECs are impressive with good leadership experiences. You can speak about your volunteer experience and community services. The committee’s goal is to fill the class with as many perspectives and as much diversity as possible. You will need to bring diversity to your profile. Try to find something you are doing now beyond work, dig deeper and find the answer for the same. You can mention your hobbies and interests. They add a broader perspective to the profile and values, which help in determining b-schools whether a candidate is a right fit for b-school or not.
