Dear MBAandBeyond,

I have a follow-up question, in case you have the time.

I was the valedictorian in High School, and I got a maximum score in the mathematics standardized admission test for university admission in Chile (equivalent to SAT).

Are these factors something I might want to mention at some point in my application? Considering, of course, that my GPA is on the lower side.

Thank you,

Yes ieosorio, you can. You can mention any additional coursework which will help you reflect your ability to survive the quantitative rigor of business school. However, your solid GMAT score will compensate for your undergrad GPA.

Your undergrad GPA is a very minor part of your application to help connect these dots. So, even if you have a low GPA, it does not undermine your potential to the top MBA programs! You still can ace your applications!

If you’d like, you can read the article on the importance of GPA and how to explain a low GPA to the business school this will instill the right confidence in you :)

Cheers!
