Hi, and thanks for writing! One question: during your gap year between undergrad and the master's, did you work full-time? If so, you may not be eligible for deferred MBA programs, so check each program's requirements carefully.
Assuming you didn't work full-time between this period, a few things you'll want to do to strengthen your profile for deferred programs: 1. Aim for a high GMAT score (740+ would be ideal given your competitive demographic and the high test score standards for deferred applicants) 2. Reflect on your goals - since you will have a masters in commerce, how would an MBA enhance your career path in finance? 3. Between now and application time, I think focusing on GMAT, taking on leadership responsibilities (or expanding them) in your extracurricular activities (since admissions committees greatly value this, and doing an internship in the area of finance would be the best use of time.
Deferred programs are both competitive and unpredictable in terms of admissions, but there is no downside to applying. If it doesn't work out, then I'd look at post-master's roles in banking, financial services consulting, or corporate finance, since they seem to align with your areas of interest. Thank you for the evaluation and valuable suggestions. I do not have any full time work experience in my gap year but still am only eligible for the deferred MBA programs mentioned above as confirmed by the B-Schools in my email communication with them explaining my case.
I'd be really grateful if I could get an opportunity to have a word with you, like an online one on one. It will help me a lot to clear some queries and get a better idea of the way forward.
