Hi, I am planning on applying in R1 this year to start in 2022. I am from Peru and applying to M7 in the US.
I come from a non typical background so would be good to hear what you think.
GMAT: 730
GPA: 15.6 (out of 20) - Business Engineering degree from Universidad del Pacifico, feeder school for top business schools in the US
27 y/o Hispanic male, 6 years experience (5 different positions) now a Brand Manager at an big american CPG company in Lima. Won company-wide awards for best projects in 2019-2020 and the 2020 project was recognized in the global sites of the company.

Additional info:
Skilled Model United Nations debater and trainer, won awards at Harvand & Oxford conferences.
Second generation college graduate (my parents migrated to study and were first generation college graduates in their families)
Coach for young students in the Model UN Team and starting marketing interns in my company (including getting 2 of them hired after being in my team)
Avid Traveler, visited 38 countries to gain a more global approach and understand different cultures.
Target schools:
1) Kellogg
2) Columbia
3) HBS
4) Wharton
My main issue is my GPA, usually my school is renowned for giving low grades and part of my story is that I didn´t find my degree to be my true calling, and struggled with the IT related courses in the last 2 years (after graduating i found my passion in marketing).
Also, my profile is different than the common consulting/banking/tech so I don't know if my schools are reach schools or do I have a shot

Great profile! Regarding your two major points:
(1) GPA is calibrated based on a variety of factors including the school from which you received your degree. If the school does in fact have a negative curve (or something like it) then the AdComs at these b-schools on your list will know of it. I'm not terribly aware of whether your GPA is suitable or not, but we can check that out for you as a client and make sure it's appropriately evaluated relative to traditional US feeder schools. Your GMAT score of 730 should be a good indication of your academic abilities. I don't think it's a huge deal.
(2) That your profile is different is a huge advantage. Many of the consulting/banking/tech candidates would love to have a differentiated profile. It's much harder to compete when you are coming from those cohorts. You should absolutely lean into CPG as your calling card. You need to pitch yourself as the "expert" in all things CPG.
It sounds like the four schools on your list are within reach. HBS will be particularly tough to gain admission just given the sheer level of competition. You might want to consider Columbia Early Decision to give yourself a slight edge. Kellogg honestly sounds like the best fit for Brand Management and Marketing for CPG.
