Hello Experts,
I am Sanidhya, could you please evaluate my profile for the MBA programs with an inclination towards Product Management programs and/or backgrounds?
Targeting R1 / R2.
1. Demographics - 28, Indian, Male
2. Educational Qualification:
- Under-Graduation: BTech (Mechanical Engineering) from KIIT University(Tier 1), Bhubaneswar, India.
- CGPA: 6.28/10
3. GMAT: 710(Q50/V35)
4. Work Experience: 5 years – India
- Techno-functional SAP Consulting Experience (2.11 years) in a Partner company for SAP Ariba
Vertical:
○ Supplier Network Integrations for Customers and Suppliers across the European Continent.
○ Manages small teams and/or work efforts (if in an individual contributor role) within partner company
○ Handling one of the biggest suppliers (client) for Ariba by assisting them to automate with multiple customers across the European region.
o Positions:
Senior Consultant(1st Promotion within 24 months)
Associate Consultant
o Recognitions:
• Piloting the senior job—role prospects for my company with SAP Ariba, a new spectrum of service-partnership. Only one in the company to have
been selected for the position.
• For Outstanding Performance by the Client company. Received Company and Client Appreciations for several projects.
• Worked and accomplished over 400 Integrations(projects) over a span of 3 years highest metrics within the company.
• Have been constantly achieving 20k(USD) for integrations done quarterly for the company meeting the project metrics.
- Techno-functional Consulting Experience (2 years) with an industrial company for SAP MM
o Vertical: SAP Material Management module
o Position: Junior Consultant
- International Exposure:
o Worked primarily and secondarily with all the European Clients. Working from India but interacting with company stakeholders from Europe and the Middle East.
o The intra-company and intercompany cross-functional teams across my company, along with that of clients and the project-stakeholders, were spread throughout the European Region.
o Clientele and projects spanned across the European Union, UK, and Middle East countries.
- Industrial Internship: Cummins India Limited, India.
o Project: Industrial Packaging and Warehouse Management under the Supply Chain Management module.
o Created a detailed report on warehouse optimization(inbound logistics)
5. Extra-Curricular:
- Academic:
• Participated in the event of National Go-Kart Racing Championship at Bhopal (M.P.) which attained the FIRST position as the Best Design award,
SECOND position in Endurance race, and THIRD position at the event.
• Managed the costing and procurement of the materials including the marketing aspect for the Go-Kart project.
• Raised sponsorships from two big automobile companies which helped the Go-Kart project.
• Participated in various workshops like prototype-creation of RC Aircrafts.
- Non-Academic:
• Volunteered teaching Basics of Computers at the KISS (KIIT’s Initiative for the welfare and development of Tribal children)
• Marketing Coordinator at the College Annual Fest 2014- 2015.
• Have been an active member of Rhythm of Nation(NGO) since 2014, started cleanliness drive - Government-supported initiative (2014-2016)
• Organized Health Marathon in association with APOLLO Hospitals under the banner of Rhythm of Nation (2016)
6. Interests and Hobbies:
- Freelancing in Content Writing, Social Media Marketing, Writing Blogs, Working for NGO named RON
7. Post MBA Goals:
- Primary - Want to transition from IT-Consulting Role to product management in supply chain management

c. Can you suggest any other B-schools that are better suited for my career choices and profile?

I think overall your profile is mostly in line with the schools you are targeting. LBS could be tricky as it's quite popular, especially with those who have had and want to continue their international exposure. Speaking of, I'm glad your work has involved that, and overall your work experience and progression seem strong. Plus I think you're well positioned to use an MBA to pursue product management given your mix of consulting and technical work.
It also seems like you have quite a few extracurriculars in your past and activities you currently pursue, which should make for a well-rounded profile.
I think the weaknesses to be concerned about are your lower GPA (an above average GMAT is the best strategy to mitigate that), and the high representation of others with a similar background. Network with your schools, get to know more about what each is looking for, and use that to tailor your applications.
