Hello,
My name is Gayatri. Below is a snapshot of my profile, would be very grateful if you could share some guidance on my chances of getting an admit into schools like LBS, Insead, Indian School of Business, Said and Judge? Thank you in advance!
Profile:
Indian Female, 33 yrs
Education: Pretty good student in school, Bachelors degree in Commerce , 2-year MBA from tier-2 college in Bangalore, India.
Current industry : HR professional in a US based Tech product firm - managing/designing the Policies, Benefits and Wellness initiatives for 7000+ India employees
Total 7+ years experience -
Started off as Client relationship manager in Wealth management industry (about 6 months),
then pursued teaching at undergrad level, Assistant Professor in the Department of Commerce, for 2.5 years.
Moved into Corporate HR , working in teams such as Learning & Development, Compensation and Benefits. Have been in the Employee Benefits space for the last 4 years with experience in India, and US benefits mainly.
Certification : PG Certification in Psychological Counselling. (It was a 2-month, intense, residential program which I underwent for the love of psychology and the workings of the human mind!)
Awards: Received 6-7 recognitions/ team awards till date, for exceptional performance
Social impact : Volunteered with some NGOs and worked with local volunteers that for the benefit of providing meals to the poor, child helpline, rescuing abandoned / hurt animals in the city, etc.
Also, I come from an entrepreneurial background: both parents are first gen self-made serial entrepreneurs who have run successful small businesses, so have exposure to that world as well.
MBA Goal: Looking to apply to a 1 yr program, from a reputed brand, and to move to consulting (strategy/ people consulting). I want to put into use my varied backgrounds and experiences to provide valuable solutions to business problems. I also like change; I have moved 3 companies in the past 4 years as I'm always looking for the next big thing, so I believe Consulting would provide the dynamism I'm yearning for in my current field.
GMAT: Just gave it few days ago and was disappointed to get only a 690 (Q44, V41, IR-6) as I was scoring 720-730 in official practice exams. I'm considering giving it another go, your suggestions are welcome.
Looking forward to your feedback, also please let me know if I should be looking at any other schools, given my background, instead of the schools I have mentioned above. Thank you!
