Hi
vishalyyyhhhh,
Thanks for reaching out to us at
mbaMission with your profile. Low GPAs can be a challenge but there are ways you can mitigate them and still get admitted. First, you are absolutely on the right track with aiming for a high GMAT. You've already got a great score but an even higher score will increase your chances. Second, you'll want to address the reasons for your low GPA in an optional essay. Keep it brief and don't make excuses, mostly the purpose of the essay is to show self-awareness that you realize your GPA is not stellar. Third, you could take some additional courses before you apply, especially ones that are quantitative in nature or ones that you did poorly in during your undergraduate studies. I wouldn't pursue a full master's degree though (because then schools might wonder why you need an MBA still), I would just take 1-3 non-degree courses where you can show a completion/grade.
Otherwise, it would benefit you to be strategic about the timing of when you apply. Perhaps waiting an extra year would be best. Not only would it give you time with the GMAT and courses, but it might give you time to improve your work profile (another promotion, switch to a better-known company, etc.). And also be strategic about the schools you apply to so you have a range of schools, about 5-7 is what we recommend.
Hope that helps!
Kate

Target schools - NUS ,NTU, MBS , ISB , IIM B , INSEAD SINGAPORE, . (Have a lot alumni coming from my undergrad school )
Post -Mba goals : I wish to work in the fintech industry as a consultant.
I wish to get an admit from top 50 Mba programs , but given how the fierce the competition is I believe my GPA would be a major setback , should I do a distance learning masters and cover up that low undergrad with a good masters academic performance or would that be a complete waste of time and I should focus on something else that would shine on my profile ?
Also what other MBA schools do you recommend I try for ?
Would appreciate any guidance,thanks.
