Hi peeps,
I would appreciate your thoughts on my profile and any recommendations you'd have for me to look into before I start applying.
I plan to apply during the second round of admissions with a, it is hoped, better GMAT score, however, am torn between going ahead with the current score for round one itself for LBS.
Please note that I do aspire a scholarship and want understand that the impact of my profile and background would have on the probability of getting one versus a higher GMAT score.
Here's my profile summary-
Demo: Indian, Male (27)
Undergrad: B.Tech (Electrical Engineering) from a good TIER 2 college, CGPA 7.81 (translates to a 4.0 from my understanding)
Gmat: 710 (Q49, V37, IR6); plan to retake within the next 3-4 weeks aiming for a 10 to 20 points bump
Extracurricular: Led student bodies in college; international semester internship; Wharton's Economics of Blockchain and Digital Assets online certification; amateur investor and financial markets enthusiast
Work Ex: 5+ years at MBB consulting in the Marketing function (right after graduation); 3 promotions
Post MBA goals: Integrative consulting track or the CXO track, preferably in Marketing
Target Schools: LBS, HBS, Wharton, Kellogg, Stanford, Columbia, INSEAD
Unique: I belong to a persecuted minority community

Thanks for reaching out. Given your goals and the competitive schools you've listed, I would aim for the 2nd round with a higher score. There's not much difference between those two rounds, and it's best to apply when your profile is strongest. The GMAT is one of the few things still within your control!
Otherwise your work profile looks strong it's good you have some extracurriculars, though it seems like recent community service/volunteer work could be a gap. Is there anything extra you do at work?
Also note that you don't need to worry about converting your GPA. Admissions will review your transcript in detail and is well versed in GPAs on different scaless. In my experience 8.0 and higher GPAs from colleges in India are most common for admits to the top schools in the US. You are pretty close to that and have the selectivity of the MBB experience, so hopefully that won't be an issue.
