Hi folks,
I'd appreciate any thoughts on my profile.
30 yo White Male (USA)
WE: 7 years as program manager at top high tech firm, followed by 1 year gap (attempted start-up, didn't work out)
790 GMAT
3.4 GPA top school (downward trend)
Want to transition into finance (not sure how much to emphasize this in essays, given how hard this transition is)
I think my biggest problems are my age and the gap.
Schools:
Wharton (applied R1, dinged)
Harvard (ding pending)
Ross (interviewed)
Columbia (will apply for R1)
MIT (will apply R2)
NYU (will apply R2)
Kellogg (will apply R2)

I think you have a great profile, GREAT GMAT, looks like a solid career progression, and I think the 1 year attempt at a startup gives you a great story, I wouldn't call it a gap. Looks solid, only thing is your age. While it's great for certain school, HBS/Stanford are trying to get the younger crowd. I think other than those, your profile will be strong for most schools.
