Hi,
I would be taking the GMAT next week, and I am expecting to score between 680-720.
My query is regarding the selection of the 5 B-schools that need to be applied to during the GMAT. I was originally keen on an MBA from an institute in the Asian region (ISB, CEIBS, NUS, HKUST, NTU), but a consultant I met advised me against this, primarily because of my average acads and my limited budget (max. $55,000 for 2 years).
So, now I am planning to select ISB (still skeptical about my profile being good enough) as one of the 5 institutes and need to finalize the remaining 4 (from the US, as according to that consultant my chances of getting financial aid would be higher there). Here is my brief profile:
Acads (Pretty much average):
SSC - 77%, HSC - 65%, BBA - 65%, MCom - 50%, MA-I (Politics) - 42%
Work-ex:
10 Months in Financial Services Marketing: Nothing much to write about.
29 months at A C Nielsen (Market Research) : Fairly Decent with 2 promotions in 2 years and other work achievements.
Extra-Currics:
Participation in college fests. Event and Marketing Head for the College Festival. Nothing besides these.
Negatives:
1. Average to Below Average Acads.
2. Currently Not working (since, September 2010).
A few things for consideration:
1. Max I can afford to spend is $55,000 (including living costs): So, would need financial aid.
2. Immediately after the MBA I may want to come back to India: So internationally, the school should be reputed enough to get me a decent job here.
Based on the above can some1 recommend me a couple of good schools for Marketing / Strategy in the US.
Thanks in anticipation to all.
P.S: Don't think I am too lazy to do the ground work myself. Just that I am really crunched for time (GMAT next week) and I am getting a lot of contradictory views from advisors.
Best,
Sanjay
