Hi Parita1234,
This is Kate with mbaMission. Agree it would be tough to get to the interview stage with that score, for those 2 schools. I know there's not a lot of time, but have you considered switching from GMAT to the EA (Executive Assessment)? Both CBS and NYU accept it, and many applicants find it easier and less time-intensive. Might be worth a try!
Good luck,
Kate

Parita1234
I am an Indian girl, 28 years old(1995 born). I am an engineer with a Btech degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering From Manipal Institute of Technology. My aggregate cgpa was around 7/10. I started working immediately after of college. In fact, i got placed via campus placement and started working as an intern from my 8th semester itself. I got converted into permanent employee after my 8th semester, my last semester, got over. The company I worked for is Byjus. It was India's first unicorn, and when i started working there from Jan 2017, it was a small team of 50 people at the time. I have 5 years of work experience in the company, a steady career graph as well. I started out as an editor, animator and content writer for them, where we created educational products including videos, for all grades in school and for competitive exams outside of schools as well. I had a good appraisal, designation change and promotion with salary increment each year.
I have 2 letters of recommendation as well, one from the vp and one from the avp of the company. I also have reccomendation letters from the Principal Director and Senior Managers, just in case. I was on L3 level by the time i quit in July 2022 at a creative lead position, already managing a team, as well as working in design, project pipeline creation, direction and shooting of videos and content writing for the same. After i quit the job in July 2022, i moved back home and started working with my father. He is a doctor, pathologist (mbbs and md cancer speacialist) and has his own clinic. While helping out my dad with daily management of his employees, I am also working on grassroots level marketing for his clinic in our city since August 2022. So this adds to my work experience as you may deem fit.

I have extra curriculars as well. Throughout school, I was in the tennis and basketball team, and represented my school in the same. And throughout my 4 years of engineering degree, i was a part of my college drama club as well as the club committee member. I represented my college and as a club we went to many different colleges in India and won the drama events of Centre Stage and Streetplay.

I have attempted GMAT three times as of now and my final score today has been 660 Q47 V34. My dream college has always been NYU Stern. And because my mock scores always were above 760, I had also added Columbia in my dream college list. But unfortunately, my mock scores have not translated in the 3 real exam attempts and the score for Gmat i have now is 660. These two are my target schools and I wish to pursue a full time MBA degree in marketing, not finance. Consulting is the second option but definitely will say Marketing is the goal.

Based on this data, and assuming that i am capable of writing an amazing application in terms of all the essays and sop, should I even apply to Stern and Columbia with this GMAT score? Obviously given round 2 ends in the first half of Jan 2023 and Stern round 3 ends Jan18 2023. I know i will kill it in the interviews and application process because those are my strengths. And i am obviously going to give the IELTS and since English is a big strength as well, can assume i will get above 7 bands.

My post exam research of just 2 hours has told me Stern and Columbia dont even invite you for the interview round with my level of GMAT score. In case you can help me also with what other colleges, tier 1 only, can I even attempt to apply to as well.
I plan to get through in the fall 2024 intake, which means round 3 deadline for stern is Jan 18 2023 and round 2 deadlines for most colleges in the US(my target country) is 1st half of Jan 2023.
