KUDOS
25 year old Indian Male Engineer with a 7.08 GPA in BTech Computer Science from NIT Rourkela.
GMAT: 710 (v35/q50)

Will have 3 years of work experience, in July '17, for Samsung Bangalore during which I:
- Got a progression and a promotion, with consecutive best ratings.
- Have 4 months of International Ex working from Suwon, SK & Madrid, Spain
- Regularly work & interact with cross-cultural partner teams
- have worked in all phases from inception to production of a payment solution used on an international level, with way more responsibilities other than development.
Apart from work I am studying french and should achieve professional proficiency by end of year. I also plan to give GMAT again during June this year.

I am aiming to apply for MBA at ISB and NUS to enter product management/it consultancy. I am also looking for other colleges with a decent probability of getting a job outside India.

1) Do I need to improve my GMAT score for ISB & NUS?
2) Which other colleges can I apply to in the Southeast Asia & European regions? (not US)

Hi Rohan,
Your profile seems pretty decent to apply to ISB and NUS. French proficiency and international work ex will definitely help you to secure a job in Europe and Canada. Have you considered Canada?

1. If you can improve 20-30 points in your next GMAT take, that will put you on the safer side for ISB.

2. You can apply to HEC, INSEAD, LBS, Said and IE. They are all excellent schools with good job prospects for its graduates.

However, I would recommend focusing on one region when applying to schools. Dig deeper as to why you want to pursue an MBA and which MBA school will be the best fit for you. You should also realise that GMAT is not the ONLY criteria on which adcoms make their decisions. If you work hard to prepare a stellar application package, I think you can get in to any of the above mentioned schools. I would be happy to answer your queries in detail over a call.
Good Luck !

I will add that you might look at Canada- particularly Schulich (and if you spoke a second language the IMBA program)
and also Rotman. I think you work experience is on the light side and that a higher GMAT might help offset that if you choose to aply to the schools on your list. To reach out for a free consult to discuss your situation in more detail, please go to this link:

Hi Vivek,
Your profile seems very good overall. You have good work experience. 5 years of work ex is pretty good to demonstrate leadership experience. I see you shifted from a technical role at Cognizant to CSR role at CIL. This transition should be backed with good reason, logic and should demonstrate upward career trajectory.
You extra curricular and community involvement seems excellent and will distinguish you from typical Indian candidate which will increase your chances. I like that you are clear about IT consulting. Most of my friends at Ivey ended up in IT consulting at Deloitte. When an international students pursues MBA he/she is already changing Geography. It is prudent not change Geography, Function and Industry all at the same time.
Looking at the target schools you have mentioned in your profile, I think Questrom, Arizona State and Urbana-Illinois would be safe schools for you. You could aim higher depending on your goals. Ivey on the other hand will be difficult to get in. If you are successful in scoring a 720 in your next GMAT, then your chances will definitely improve. FYI round 1 of Ivey has already lapsed. But to recommend more schools I'll need more details from you and I am happy to discuss that over the phone.

PS: Does CIL mean Coal India? If yes thats so cool. I myself have worked with subsidiaries of CIL such as WCL,CCL and NCL.
