I was accepted to 5 M7s (among other schools) including Wharton, and one thing I underestimated during the process was how difficult it is to evaluate MBA profiles accurately.
People focus heavily on GPA, GMAT/GRE, prestige of employer, etc.
But after seeing hundreds of applicant profiles over the years, and interacting with actual M7 MBA peers, I think candidates misunderstand what actually makes an application compelling.
Furthermore, all too often I see encouraging, but unhelpful, overinflated profile assessments that are not honest enough when applicants need to hear candid feedback.
So, I'm doing some free profile evaluations. I ask that you post the following...
Include your:
GPA
Undergraduate institution
GMAT/GRE
Work experience (including accomplishments/promotions, not just titles)
Extracurriculars
Post-MBA goals
Target schools
I'll give candid feedback:
Competitiveness
Narrative strengths/weaknesses
School selection
Biggest application risks
What I would focus on improving
A few observations already:
1. Many "strong" candidates feel interchangeable on paper
2. Career goals are often vague or strategically incoherent
3. Applicants routinely underinvest in storytelling and self-awareness
4. Some candidates with lower stats actually have more compelling applications overall
5. Some applicants are overly optimistic or need to strengthen areas of their application
I'm especially interested in applicants targeting:
Wharton
HBS
GSB
Booth
Kellogg
CBS
Sloan
If you feel more comfortable, please message me your profile directly.
