My selected answer choice:
Electronic mail systems, which have hundreds of thousands of subscribers, by their existence prove that while Americans may write fewer letters, another method of communication has arisen to take the place of writing letters.

The existence of a large number of electronic mail systems, which have hundreds of thousands of subscribers, proves that while Americans may write fewer letters, another method of communication has arisen to take the place of writing letters.
My disagreement:
According to PR, my answer choice is wrong because
However, I argue that "their" is not an unclear pronoun because the part of the sentence that talks about the subscribers is separated by "which" and a "," meaning that it is non-essential... meaning it is just added filler. The part of the sentence with the "which" is also a subordinate clause, meaning anything in that part of the sentence cannot be the true subject. Therefore my conclusion is that "their" is not an unclear pronoun.
Furthermore, that makes my answer choice more concise than the one PR claims to be right.
Does anybody else disagree with PR or can somebody tell me why they disagree with me?

The choice that is the most clear and unproblomatic is best and OA. In your case, you need to clarify that why it is correct however in their case, it is also not required to do so. The official OA is correct because it is not ambigious in terms of "pronoun reference". So the given OA is correct.
