Other schools are still holding out and prefer (or require) the GRE. There are also some recent reports that schools may be slightly more lenient with the GRE, since it doesn't affect their published average GMAT scores (but I wouldn't put all of your hopes on that unless someone from a school tells you that specifically). Overall, it's probably best to go with whichever test plays more to your strengths, unless you have a clear 'dealbreaker' reason to choose one or the other (discussed in that article).

A similar example, many US schools now accept IELTS score besides TOEFL score. However, TOEFL means for US, and IELTS means for other countries outside US which use English. Thus, it's clear that US schools still prefer TOEFL score.
