No sharing here.

Had long conversations on why I wanted an MBA. Also they were kind enough to let me peek a look into their drafts. That allowed me to point out some minor errors.

No sharing, and I didn't ask to have the review when they submitted them.

I kind of regret the last bit a little, but I think it is fair to them - I expect I will be told how kind they were to me when we meet up after all the applications.

Here's a list of what you can give them. I did some of this, but not all:

• Deadlines
• Copies of forms and addresses if doing it by paper
• Copies of essays
• Description of positioning strategy
• Main points for each school
• Samples of work
• Copies of evals
• Resume and how activities relate to b-school
• Canned descriptions of stories
• General instructions

The stuff in bold is what I handed over. I didn't give them all the essays for each school, just a couple that i felt were particularly insightful.

I think it's key that you explain how b-school recommendations are different from regular job references. If they aren't used to this, they might be surprised to learn the actual depth.

And last but not least: make sure their definition of leadership isn't: "he whips employees efficiently and does not hesitate to make them cry to show his superiority".

Lepium -

Some readers might particularly like such a description. Just sayin'.

I see your point. But what are the odds of getting an S&M inclined adcom to read your essays?
