A machine's ratio of depreciation is 6/16, 5/16, and 4/16 for the first 3 years. Third year's depreciated amount is \$600 less than first year's depreciated amount. How much is depreciated in the second year?

Should be 3000

5X/16 - 4X/16 = 600

X/16 = 600

5X/16 = 3000

X6/16 -X4/16 =600 ==> X = 4800
5/16*4800 = 1500

You have used second years depreicated amount. we have to use first year's.

I get 1800 1500 and 1200 as the depreciated amonuts. Answer is 1500.

Got 1500 as well

Working is simple,

6x/16 - 4x/16 = 600, gives x = 4800

Now we need to find second year's depreciation, i.e 5x/16 = 1500
