its not that difficult. cross multiply:


\((1/5)^m * (1/4)^{18} = 1/{2(10)^{35}}\)


\(5^m * 4^{18} = 2(10)^{35}\)
\(5^m * 2^{36} = 2 * 2^{35} * 5^{35}\)
\(5^m * 2^{36} = 2^{36} * 5^{35}\)
\(5^m = 5^{35}\)

m = 35

Hope you don't mind, GMAT Tiger - I edited your post to fix the display of the exponents. You had written your exponents like this:

\(2^35\)

which is what you get if you type, in math mode: 2^35

If your exponent is longer than one character, you need to enclose it in set braces for it to display properly:

That is, to get:
\(2^{35}\)

you need to type: 2^{35} in math mode.
