During a sale, the price per pound of raisins was decreased by 40 percent. Simon decides to increase the weight of raisins that he buys so that he spends the same amount on raisins that he would have spent on raisins before the sale. By approximately what percent does Simon increase the weight of the raisins that he buys?

a. 30%
b. 33%
c. 40%
d. 60%
e. 67%

Consider the initial price 100, and wieght x

Total price = 100x
Increased weight = y
So
100x = 60 (x+y)
So y=(2/3 ) x

(2/3 )x means 67% increase

Cost * Weight = C * W is the same in both cases. Therefore

C * W = 60%C * n%W

n = 1 / 0.60 = 1.66666 (at this point you should see the answer choices and verify that it´s safe to round numbers) => n = 1.67 = 167%, thus Simon has to increase the weight by 167 - 100 % = 67% to spend the same.
