Hi everyone,
I’m confused between pursuing an MiM now vs. continuing work for 2–3 more years and applying for an MBA. I want advice from people who understand the trade-offs.
My background:
- Top 3 IIT undergrad – top 20%. Just graduated in 2025
- 100%ile GMAT (Focus Edition)
- Associate consultant in management consulting (non MBB). Less than 1 year of workex.
- Entrepreneurial experience in undergrad (received 25k USD grant)
- 2-3 leadership positions in college
Career goals:
- Short-term: Consulting / VC to get exposure and understand how businesses succeed
- Long-term: Launching my own venture in India
My confusion:
- MBAs (especially US + INSEAD/LBS) seem to be getting more competitive for Indian males.
- MiM would let me globalize my career sooner, but I worry about ROI and whether I will still need an MBA later.
- Not sure if I should leverage my profile and build it for MBA or take the MiM route early.
What I want advice on:
- For someone with my profile, is MiM worth it or should I wait and build experience for an MBA?
- How are MBA outcomes changing for Indian consultants?
- Does MiM meaningfully help someone with an IIT + consulting background?
- ROI / placement differences in current job markets (esp. Europe/Singapore).
- What would you do in my place?
