Q) I had to put a lot of values to determine this, any tip on this one...especially when i got it as 30th question...

Both are individually INSUFF

x-y>-2 -------------(I)
x-y < y-6--------------(II) [by re arranging the terms]

or y-x>6-y----------(III)

Add I and III

0 > 4-y which means y > 4

Put this in I and II you get X also as positive

So C is enough

what is the OA usman ?

trivikram,

from ur expln, y>4
and II: x-y < y-6
x<2y-6 implies , x<(number greater than 2 )
cant say x is +ve or -ve..

so, E! ????

also, when I draw the lines and check the corr areas, it comes E!
guys , check this and let me know if I am wrong..

Hmmm I'm going for C

Taking both together we know y>4

From 1) x-y>-2 or x>-2+y So as y increases in value so would x. If y did equal 4 then x would obviously equal 2

x cant become what ever it likes once you consider (I)
x-y should be greater than -2

So if y>4 pick your number to counter x-y>-2...

x has to be min of 2..So x CANT be -ve

When I drew the lines with intercepts, I overlooked changing the <> signs when I divided with -ve # on both sides. so, it was giving me 3 diff regions with diff poss..

When I changed the signs, rightly, I am getting the common area in which x has to be +ve and >2 .

TF, I too go with C ..

x can be either 1 number less or same as y. and has to be > 6 to satisfy both, and that shows xy is > 0.
