Hi devdattajoshi,

When it comes to applying to Business School, if you don't have a strong enough OVERALL profile (including a competitive GMAT Score), then the application deadlines don't really matter. The goal is to get in to your first-choice School (regardless of which Application Round you apply). While I know that the idea of pushing back your application submissions probably does not make you 'happy', the reality is that you need some serious time and effort to improve your GMAT score.

There are a variety of score 'combinations' that will lead to a 690+ GMAT score. Given the two CAT scores that you've listed, you'll likely need to make some significant improvements to how you handle BOTH the Quant and Verbal sections. Since you've already studied for the last 2 months, but you're still 140+ points from your score goal, you would likely benefit a great deal from investing in a GMAT Course of some type (either Guided Self-Study or instructor-led).

1) What Schools are you planning to apply to?
2) What is the latest Application Round for each School?

Hi Rich,

I am planning to apply for Financial Engineering course in US -- Since intake for this course is not like that of MBA first deadlines are towards end January. having said this I do have some leg-space. most of the Financial engineering courses are quant based and they weigh Quant score more.

1) What Schools are you planning to apply to? - I am planning to apply to UCLA, UC Berkley, Boston University, Toronto University
2) What is the latest Application Round for each School? - Latest deadline which is 1st deadline of UCLA is on 31st Jan 2016.

Hi devdattajoshi,

You've named some competitive Schools, and since the focus is on FINANCIAL engineering, I'm going to assume that a Q49+ is probably what those Schools would prefer (as well as a strong Overall GMAT score). With the January 31st deadlines, you have less than 3 weeks to go - that is almost certainly NOT enough time to get your overall score up to 700+ range. You could conceivably raise your Quant to Q49+ during that time, but you'll need far more time to hit your overall goals.

1) What are the application deadlines for the other Schools? Are they all January 31st?
