Q47 percentile afternoon April changes

Question

Hello, everyone! I am planning to take gmat in the beginning of February. My goal is 650 total score and quant score >=47. The question is how hard is it to get q47 after April changes.
 I can’t find information about new score percentiles, and when I checked old score tables q47 was about 67 percentile. Now that maximum score is 51 it should be lot higher, right?

They have been no changes impacting gmat scoring in the last six years.

GMAT scores are valid for five years, so by definition they have to be consistent. A Q47 taken a year ago and a Q47 today is the same Q47.

As BB said the 47q today or a year ago is the same. The only difference is that there are “more” test-takers achieving this score that is why the percentile has changed and thats all.

In your particular case look at what splits might result in 650. I usually refer to this one by Magoosh

That being said, how is your studying coming along? Have you taken any practice exams to get a baseline GMAT score?

From your post, it's not clear how you have been studying. Did you study before the Test changed back in April (7 months ago)? What type of studying have you done since then? Before I can offer you any advice about how you might study for the next few months, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) How long have you studied?
2) What study materials have you used so far?
3) How have you scored on EACH of your CATs (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?

Goals:
4) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
5) What Schools are you planning to apply to?

Thank you for your answers). I’ve already started preparing for GMAT and signed up for courses in Moscow. Average score is rather high after taking it (~640-650). 
TBH, I signed up for it just because I don’t want to look for reliable sources and waste too much time. 
I have not studied for GMAT before at all. 
Currently I am thinking about applying to local MSc program in finance (it’s the only one internationally competitive here). 
I am going to take exam in the end of winter or in the beginning of spring.

Hi FROstmagic,

Since you are already enrolled in your Course, then you should plan to work through it. You'll come to find that there are a lot of little 'pieces' to the GMAT, but the overall Exam itself is consistent and predictable - so you CAN train to score at a higher level. You should plan to post back periodically with your practice CAT/mock scores and any questions that you have. You've given yourself plenty of time to study, so now you have to commit to the necessary study routine to learn the content and Tactics and hone your Test-taking skills.
