In regard to the verbal score, so far I have done the following:
  • Read through all the MGMAT verbal handbooks 5th edition I think.
  • Completed all the sentence correction and critical reasoning in the 11th Official Guide.
  • Done some replies on the GMAT Club Forum

Lately I have been trying to read more, 2 books specifically that I think have helped me with the Critical Reasoning and Reading Comprehension. They are:
  • The Bottom Billion: Why the Poorest Countries are Failing and What Can Be Done About It is a 2007, by Professor Paul Collier
  • Sacred Causes by Michael Burleigh

The Bottom Billion does a fantastic job of explaining a number of trends in the difference between poor countries that improve and poor nations that do not improve. I think it really should be required reading for every Macroeconomics class. It is a quick read with very analytical approach to some of the world's biggest problems. He does a great job of explaining of many different trends and the relationship of many variables and tests. If you have trouble with the "scientific" passages of reading comprehension it is a good read and you will learn something helpful in understanding the world. And even after winning national awards, the author still answers e-mails himself.

Also, on days that I had good motivation I took the time to specifically write why the 4 wrong choices were incorrect. This helped me catch the different patterns in the questions. Furthermore, I would first check the answer key. If I had the incorrect answer, I would go back and try to do more thinking on what was wrong before I flipped to the explanation.

wow - amazing score!!!!

A third of questions on the GMAT (12 in the Q section) are experimental questions; so if you miss a few questions here and there and also have most of the missed ones as experimental, you can get a great score, just like you did.

Congratulations. Did you schedule your test?

Thank you, but I feel like the quant score was mostly luck.

At least I know where to focus in the next 2 weeks. Test is August 21st

I wonder why missing on on the verbal only scores a 48? Many people get perfect scores?

High verbal scores are very very rare. The only person with V50 I know is Nink and I think that's the highest on GMAT Club.

The highest scores are 51/51.

My test date is August 21st.

So I sat down today and decided to go ahead and take a full practice test.

Quant Section
From the first question I was confused, probably spent 10 minutes on the first 3 questions. They didn't seem to be anything like what I had been practicing.

Fast forward to 8 minutes remaining, I had like 10 questions left with 8 minutes remaining. I literally had time to read the question and guess within 15-20 seconds.

So figuring I was screwed I almost quit, but then decided since I was already going to be frustrated, I mine as well finish the verbal.

Verbal
Much easier....nothing to difficult except a couple of sentence correction, which I would prefer to call sentence replacement, as basically the whole thing was underlined.

Results
Q50
V48
780

Missed 10 on Quant and 1 on Verbal is this actually possible?

I mean you can't miss 10 out of 37 on the Quantitative section and get 780 on the real exam can you?

I believe that you must have got that 1 verbal question wrong in first 10 thats why you have scored a 48...

Moreover can you please tell as to what all question numbers did you get wrong in quant to score a 50....

Thanks in advance...

One more thing is that if your verbal score is great, it also impacts your Q score, this is my personal experience. So I think the great verbal shot has pushed the Q to 50. Great score!! Best of luck for real day.

Is that so? I was under the impression that verbal and quant scores are totally independant.
