To increase your Quant score, you can do two main things: strengthen your skills in weaker topics and reduce the number of careless errors you make.

To strengthen your skills in weaker topics, consider which topics you have trouble with and would rather not see on the test and, for each one, review the relevant concepts and strategies and practice until you feel confident in the topic. Even though you're at the stage of taking practice tests, you should still do some of your practicing untimed to give yourself time to learn to get the questions correct.

To reduce the number of careless errors you make, you can seek to execute more carefully, doing things such as making sure you answer the question asked. Also, you can look for patterns to your errors, possibly by keeping an error log. In many cases, just a few patterns of behavior cause most of a test-taker's errors. So, it may be that, by identifying and addressing a few patterns, you can increase your Quant score significantly.

Also, you could practice one Quant topic at a time using the streaks method, which is discussed in the following post.

How to Ace the GMAT Using the Streaks Method

The streaks method can be brutal, but it can also be very effective.
hi marty ,

thanks for the response , just a couple more doubts id be happy if you could help me with those . so i looked at my quant test and saw 2 careless mistakes what could my score be if i got those two correct ( meaning do we have a rough idea as to what each correct question gets us in terms of score ). Also for the classic edtion i remember there being a score chart which you could refer to get an idea for the total score youd get, like Q48 V38 equaled a 700 i think . what do i need to score on each section to get a 645 ? do we have any chart for that ?

thank you

Those two questions could be worth around 3 to around 6 points depending on their difficulty and their position in your test. Missing two medium questions can ding your score by 6 points, though it doesn't always. Missing two harder ones may ding your score by around 3 points.

Regarding the section scores you need for 645, you need the scores to total 246. So, 82, 82, 82 would work, for example.

There's a formula for going from section scores to total scores toward the beginning of this post.
