Hi Florson
I would like to advise you to first master quant concepts using any good source. (GMATClub math book, MGMAT guides, online courses etc)
Further you should practice questions with increasing difficulty level since GMAT may penalise you heavily for not answering easy questions.
Best of luck!

Florson
Hi,

Few days ago I took my GMAT for the first time. I am really disappointed by my result, which is much lower than my offical mock but the worst part is my quant score - i got Q45 despite reaching 48/49 in mocks. Many questions seemed extremaly complex so I wasted lot of time, totally lost my confidence, and had to guess last three questions. During verbal I couldn't get rid of feeling that i did really bad in quant, what probably resulted in lack of focus.

I will retake GMAT in the nearest future and I would like to put more effort into quant. To prepare I went through GMAT Club math book (which i think is quite good but I was familiar with nearly all those concepts before) and many official questions on GMAT Club. I'm aware that I definitely need to improve my speed and confidence. Do you have any advice on methods or books that i can apply to improve my score?

Thanks!

Hi Florson,

I’m sorry to hear about how things went with your GMAT. Regarding resources, in addition to seeking advice in this thread, take a look at the GMAT Club reviews for the best quant courses, and also read through some GMAT success stories to see what materials have worked well for other test-takers. I also have some articles that you should check out. If you have any additional questions, feel free to reach back out.

Hi Florson,

I'm sorry to hear that Test Day didn't go as well as planned. When these types of score drops occur, the two likely "causes" involve either something that was unrealistic during practice or something that was surprising (or not accounted for) on Test Day. Before we discuss any of those potential issues though, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) How long have you studied? How many hours do you typically study each week?
2) What study materials have you used so far?
3) On what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?

Goals:
4) What is your overall goal score?
5) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?

If you took your GMAT at a Test Center, then you might also choose to purchase the Enhanced Score Report. While the ESR doesn’t provide a lot of information, there are usually a few data points that we can use to define what went wrong on Test Day (and what you should work on to score higher). If you purchase the ESR, then I'll be happy to analyze it for you.
