Hi All,
I've been taking the
MGMAT tests and have been scoring between 640-670. My goal is to break the 710 mark.
All of my test's breakdown roughly as such:
Q43 = 65%
V35 = 80%
Does it make sense for me to focus on Verbal or Quant to improve my score? Meaning, I can see that although my Quant Point Score is high, the percentage is relatively low. Should I focus on bringing the Quant from 43-50 or is it a better use of my time to bring my V from 35 to 40?
Thanks a ton,
Russ
For quant - take a look at the kind of mistakes you are making. The quant percentile scale is much more sensitive with just a few wrong--especially near the top. Make a real effort to make sure you don't make any "stupid" or careless mistakes -- it can make a big difference to your quant score if you are able to be super careful. Take not of questions that are phrased as: "which of the following is NOT.." --things like that.
Assess your own strengths and your history. If this quant score is relatively low to your previous breakdown on other standardized tests -- then put some effort into identifying what those minor issues might be so that your performance can more accurately reflect how you've done in the past.
I'd say a 50/50 split of time emphasis - with a slight favor to the quant side here is what we would recommend. Test yourself with some practice questions by clicking the PS pill below.
Hi GMATPill-
Really appreciate the response!
After doing a DEEP dive into my CATs, i've noticed that there are a few problems that I spend 3+ minutes on and they are usually not because of lack of knowledge but rather it just takes me long to solve those types of problems. How do you suggest I combat that issue?
I have signed up for my test on 6/30 -- just about a month away. If I were to jump onboard with your guys' program at this point, how would that alter my study habits/patterns considering I am putting in about 2hours/day on weekdays and around 16hours total on a weekend. is that enough time to grasp your content/strategies and change my study habits?
Thanks,
Russ
