Hi Aashi108,

You have nothing to worry about. There are plenty of other students in your shoes who will be applying using the classic GMAT in 2+ years. Thus, there's no way schools can stop accepting it. So, try not to worry about any of this.

Hi,

I am going to appear for my GMAT(old version) exam in Jan 2024. Will the schools accept the score during the next 2 years? I know that GMAT scores are valid for 5 years but still, I am a bit concerned since the exams of the older version shall cease to exist.

I am worried that the B-Schools will no longer prefer the older version for the admission seasons next year.
Hi Aashi108,

Your target schools are extremely unlikely to have a preference for Focus Edition scores. You can reach out to them and ask, but you shouldn't worry about this issue.

Hi Aashi108,

Whenever you ultimately take your Official GMAT, that Score result will be valid for 5 years - meaning that if you take the current version of the GMAT in the next 2 months, you will almost certainly be able to use it to apply to Schools for the next several years. The GMAT has gone through some noteworthy changes over the years (for example, in 2012 when IR replaced the Issue Essay and in 2018 when the Exam was shortened and the section-order options were added) - and Official Scores from the 'prior' versions of the Exam (at that time) were still valid for 5 years (and still used by thousands and thousands of Applicants to get into Business School). This is all meant to say that you should have nothing to worry about regarding the use of your upcoming GMAT results for a Test taken in 2023.
