Also don't forget extra curriculars. You have lpenty of time so try to get involved in extra-curriculars in which you enjoy.

Also anything which makes you different which holds value.
The things which seems to have worked for me (so far).
1) "Engineering Career" but hailed from a non-engineering background (Sports degree)
2) Career in Music
3) Lived and worked in different countries for a reasonable amount of time.

The application is not just about GPA and GMAT. The work experience needs to demonstrate progression, leadership or something unique.

Wow! These are some great replies. I really appreciate the feedback from everyone especially people who overcame their weakness and were able to get into top schools.

I've been working for 3 years now but I've switched different jobs in between. Currently I'm an regulatory affairs analyst at a big pharmaceutical company. If I apply for business school, I'll probably be categorized in a different pile of applicants. I understand that applicants are categorized into different backgrounds. People who work in the financial industry usually are required to have extremely high grades / GMAT score because of the competitiveness in that category. Non-traditional applicants usually have a easier time compared to other categories...especially people from the non-profit industry.

What classes did you guys take to make up for some undergraduate classes? Math? Accounting? etc? Should people take it at community colleges or more reputable schools?

These are some very encouraging replies. Thanks again!

Wow, this thread was made of "Win". Managed to answer my own question by searching for a similar profile. Many thanks for the responses guys.

Got a 740 on the gmat, in the working process right now. Working as a manager right now in a smaller marketting firm(Soon to be midsized now). Hopefully we'll provide some encouragement for later folks with our success stories, madcow.

I may not be exactly the person who will help too much, as my demographics perhaps is different, but here goes somethings that I believe helped me:

A) Understand who your competitors are (actually that's a business rule,), so that you can positions yourself against the competition. Please do not understand here that you must be agressive, or soft, you must be yourself, but showing things that usually your competition wouldn't. If you are an American Physician, you're not competing against IT Indians. Although schools usually say that you are, believe me you're not.

B) Find your life history, why you are the way you are, and find your goals, even though they are not still crystal clear, you must have a plan.

C) Do not be afraid to try. Only wins, who tries.

D) Dedicate enough time to the process, I know many stellar candidates who sub-estimated the essays and got dinged, you must tackle with intensity the whole process.

Good Luck
