Hello Experts,
I am a recent college graduate (this past May) with a finance and accounting degree and am scheduled to take the GMAT this December (in about 3 weeks). I have always done well in school, I had a high GPA throughout college, and have always done well on standardized testing in the past (ACT and SAT) with little to no prep time beforehand. Currently, I have been studying for the GMAT for about 2 weeks. Since I am fresh out of school and still have a good understanding of The material and concepts required for success on the exam, the actual reviewing and learning of the concepts is not as much of a concern to me. However, mastering the test taking strategies is. I have only taken one practice exam from the GMAC software so far and scored a disappointing 560. Even though I am disappointed with my first practice test, I am not discouraged at all. It is in my opinion that if I can master these exam strategies over the next few weeks, rather than focus on practicing material I already understand, it will significantly improve my score from my practice test, as well as on the real GMAT when I take it. I realize understanding content is extremely important, but, also know that having a solid handle on the overall strategies one can use while taking the exam is equally important. Since I do not have a tremendous amount of time to prep for this exam my question is about general GMAT test taking strategies. Can anyone offer any suggestions/tips for gaining a better understanding of the strategies required for success on this exam? I paid for a subscription with
Magoosh, following one of their one month study plans. It seems to be working well, but the plan is more content/concept based rather than general strategies based.
Thank you for your help and advice.
