Hi all
I recently purchased the PowerScore LSAT Logical Reasoning Bible and plan to use it in my preparation for the Verbal section of the GMAT. From what I have read on this forum it seems that the book will be very helpful. However, there is a little problem - I am planning to take the GMAT in exactly 1 month... which means - I won't have time to go over the whole book and I am definitely not considering spending that whole month doing CR only.
The book is divided into chapters that discuss different types of questions, as follows:
1. Must Be True Questions
2. Main Point Questions
3. Conditional Reasoning
4. Weaken Questions
5. Cause and Effect Reasoning
6. Strengthen, Justify the Conclusion and Assumption Questions
7. Resolve the Paradox Questions
8. Method of Reasoning
9. Flaw in Reasoning
10. Parallel Reasoning
11. Numbers and Percentages
12. Evaluate the Argument
13. Cannot Be True Questions
14. Point at Issue Questions
15. Principle Questions
I haven't gone over the book yet but it seems to me that some of the question types are not very relevant to the GMAT. Having said that I am planning to focus primarily on the following question types:
4. Weaken
6. Strengthen...
7. Resolve the Paradox
8. Method of Reasoning
9. Flaw in Reasoning
10. Parallel Reasoning
What I would like to know whether or not I am going for the right ones. Should I add more to these (if I have time)? I would appreciate your opinions.
Just a little background on myself: I have been studying since April but I really stepped it up in May when I finished up with school. After going over the OG11 PS and DS sections I took the first GMAT Prep test and got 690 (Q:49, V:35). I had seen one of the (imo relatively hard) math questions before. I did not do the essays. Since then I have taken several prep tests (Kaplan, 800score, Princeton Review, Manhattan) and have scored within the 600-700 range. I am not a native speaker. I am hoping to get 700+.
