Thanks everyone. Do you think that schools will prefer scores on the Focus Edition? I’ve seen some comments on the internet that since business school rankings are based partially on scores, they may favor the Focus Edition scores since that will be what they report for the rankings.
bb EMPOWERgmatRichC MartyTargetTestPrepSchools want high scores on the test that affects their rankings. So, if your application hinges on your scoring very high on the GMAT to tempt schools to accept you because of your GMAT score, then I guess it's possible that schools would prefer your score to be on the version of the test that affects their rankings.
However, for anyone whose GMAT score is relatively close to or below a school's average, which test you take will make no difference.
Furthermore, it's not clear that legacy GMAT scores will cease affecting rankings any time soon. It may be that they will affect rankings for the next few years until few applicants are using them.
