There are many benefits to timing your practice, including:
Suppose if you take GMAT three times. The first time you get a 300 score. The second time you get 500. The third time you get 400. Do the schools choose the third score or the second score (which is the highest score above the three) for fulfilling admission requirements?
Most schools will, according to their official line, take the highest score. That said, adcoms will look very dimly upon your GMAT score going down, especially a drop as significant as 100 points.
