Just wondering what sort of change in my score I can expect after the essays are scored. I know the essays aren't worth much. I feel very confident that my essay scores will be either 6 or 5s and my verbal+math score was 560. Any guess what my final official score will be?

Not sure if it matters, but my scores were Q-25, V-89.

Sort of funny after seeing everyone elses scores of ~Q-40, ~V-50.

Your final score out of 800 is not effected by the essay score in any way.

560 is your final score.

Are you sure? Why do they bother reading and scoring the essays if they don't have any effect on the final score? I know about the problem of non-english speakers having essays ghost written prior to the current format, but I thought the essays would still have some effect.

The GMAT scoring pattern consists of a cumulative Quant and Math score which is out of 800. The essay score called AWA is out of 6 and is reported separately and does not contribute to the 800 figure. So, it doesn't affect your score out of 800 but does get reported to the schools. Some schools ignore it - some look at it as corroborative evidence.

Note that your entire essays are sent to the schools/orgs as part of the official score that you want to send an official score report to. The schools can, if they choose to, read the essay you wrote.
