I've been working for 25 months since undergrad graduation and Im wondering if schools assume you will be working for the year until Business school starts? So would admissions look at me as someone with 3 years work experience? I thought they did but I just wanted to double check.
Is it a disadvantage to be under the work experience average in general?

Hey !
Don't worry about this at all, Usually the applications will ask you your Work experience by specifying a date. So you can count till that time and they consider that as your work experience.
Its not a disadvantage in generall to be less than average, but yes it lessens the chances. I mean anything lower than average is not nice, right? But the thing is if you have other positives, like may be you did good in those 3 years of work, or you have other things in your profile which are great, or a great GMAT.
Schools also want a diverse class, so they definitely take younger people as well. So, don't worry and give it your best shot !

Whether or not having fewer years of experience than average really depends on what you do. Bankers, consultants, PE / VC analysts, etc. generally don't run into that issue. But other professions trigger that requirement.
And work experience is counted up until you start!
