I have been reviewing the Logic Rules part of the Critical Reasoning Course Section.Would anyone know of any postings pertaining to sample sentences for the rules?
Based on the PDF Version,I have the following questions pertaining to Slide 3:
Rule#1:If P Then Q:
++++++++++++
My Sample Sentence:If I go to the Store,I can buy milk.
++++++++++++
In the above example,going to store is P and buying
milk is Q.
++++++++++++
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Doubts:
-->Sub-Rule#2:Q if P
Can't I buy milk if I go elsewhere?Why should I go to the store to buy
it?
-->Sub-Rule#3:Q is necessary for P
Like in the previous instance,since I can buy milk elsewhere,will this condition still satisfy?
-->Sub-Rule#4:One must Q in order for P
Well,I need not need buy milk to go to the store?
I can buy/do other things in the store.Why would this Statement be valid?
-->Sub-Rule#5: P only if Q
What is the difference b/w this condition and the previous?
Why should I only go to the store to buy milk?
-->Sub-Rule#6:Only Q is P
What does this means wrt my sample sentence?
-->Sub-Rule#7:None but Q is P
What does this means wrt my sample sentence?
-->Sub-Rule #8:If not Q then not P
As I can buy milk elsewhere,why would this sentence be valid.
+++++
Please let me know if I am missing something.Thank you.Rgds,
Anna
