Responding to your primary questions:
Q: Can someone please share perspectives here? I have read posts about how quitting job can reflect poorly during interviews - but I am a second mba with 9+ year experience here. Will this general perception of quitting job reflecting negatively apply to me as well?
A: This is a tough situation. After reading your detailed description (thank you!) I believe you should stay at your current job. If you have switched jobs that frequently, you don't want to add evidence to suggest you are a flight risk. Also, if you don't get into an MBA program, what is your fallback plan? You want to keep in your current role
Q: I think I have worked enough to take some time off before I start my second innings

- but adcoms should also relate to this truth. Will they?
A: Your years of experience are not an issue. In fact, depending on the programs you are targeting, it could actually work slightly against you given that you are an older candidate.
If you are feeling stretched for time, here are a few options for you to consider:
(1) Delay until next year. At this point, one year of experience will not make a difference. You are already in the 30+ category and you might be better off taking your time with applications and the GMAT rather than rushing it all in.
(2) Apply this year but scale back at work, if possible. Even though you just started the job, perhaps you can find a way to pull back a bit. Let's also be practical here - you'll be leaving this post in less than a year from now if you are accepted to a program. It's not a major career stop for you so you don't have to go all out to impress.
(3) Hire an admissions consultant who can guide you through this process and take lots of the guesswork out of the timing and content. Yes, companies like us (
