Plan to work until end of June. I get bonuses every 6 months, and will need the extra cash.
My situation is slightly different. I already have a kid, and a second one due end of April, so can't afford to quit early. I've already done a lot of travelling (I'm older, so had more time to do it), and already live in Asia, and travelled to most places here in fact I've just returned from Singapore and Vietnam.
Fortunately for me, the wife is on an ex-pat package, so when we leave, we will get a relocation allowance from her employer which will pay for the moving etc. We will also get a pension refund from the Japanese government when we leave Japan.
Plan to leave Japan early July and move to where i will be studying to allow for settling in time. Although a couple of things are complicating the matter :-
1) Current manager is fighting fot my promotion -> this could mean i get part-sponsored by the company to do the mba, because he doesn't want me to leave.
2) Manager in another department (product management) wants me to shift over there when a vacancy appears -> could mean getting part-sponsorship, as he also doesn't want me to leave.
3) Colleague in another country (same company) is trying to create a new position for me in a new department in a new country. (Again, don't want me to leave).

Except running to class can be exchanged with caring for the child.
