Hi ,
I am torn apart in applying to 6 schools and segregating them in two rounds.
Stats : 27F, 5 years work experience (2.5 International) from India , working in 3 roles across Investment Banking in a bulge bracket bank (GS , JP, MS) . GMAT 760, GPA 9.2/10 public university in India.
On the extracurricular front, I think I shouldn’t have much problem.
I’m planning to do
R1: Wharton, Booth, Columbia, MIT
R2: Stanford, Harvard, Kellogg
Since the schools I picked for R1 have straight forward application questions, I feel I can do them in a month left till the deadlines
For my dream schools (H/S), I feel I would need little more time articulating and not very comfortable rushing in R1.
Thoughts ? 1. Will I be at a disadvantage with this strategy? 2. From the stats I presented do I fall into an over represented group ?

A: Not at all. If you feel you need more time for those applications, by all means take the additional time. We work with candidates across all rounds to these top schools and see no discernible patterns, trends, discriminations, etc. between those two rounds. The only disadvantage is if you get into a program in R1 and then have to pay any deposits, etc. to hold your spot which you would then lose if you get into one of your R2 programs (and decide to go.) That being said, it's a relative minor infraction relative to the sheer cost of the MBA program.
2. From the stats I presented do I fall into an over represented group ?
Yes, in some ways and no in others. Indian finance: yes. Female finance: no. Therefore, it's a bit of a mixed bag. All that said and done, what difference does that make? You can't exactly fundamentally change your ethnicity or drastically modify your profile at this point in the game. Focus on the elements and stories in your background that you think make you unique and hope for the best. You have a great profile, so have some confidence in yourself and the process!
