R1 vs R2: Acceptance Rates at Top Business Schools
Last week we were discussing which application rounds are safer to apply. As our debate went inconclusive, we decided to analyze the historical applicant data and found some interesting results which I thought are worth sharing with the community.
We examined around 137k user records who applied in R1 & R2 between 2014 and 2018, calculated the acceptance rates of these applicants and we really got some interesting findings...
- Although overall acceptance rate is the same in R1 & R2, there is a considerable difference between R1 and R2 acceptance rates of HBS, Wharton, Booth, and MIT.
- International applicants have an edge in R2 than R1
- R1 is safer for applicants coming from well-represented industries such as Finance or Consulting.
