Ram, who is half as efficient as Krish, will take 24 days to complete a task if he worked alone. If Ram and Krish worked together, how long will they take to complete the task?

A. 16 days
B. 12 days
C. 8 days
D. 6 days
E. 18 days

Let time taken by Krish be 12 days
So, Time taken by Ram will be 24 days

Let total work be 24

Thus, individual efficiencies of Ram and Krish are 1 unit/day & 2 Units / day

SO, Time taken to complete the work togather will be 24/3 = 8 days, Answer msut be (C)

Solution:

We see that Ram’s rate is 1/24, and since Krish is twice as efficient as Ram, Krish’s rate is 1/12. Therefore, their combined rate is 1/24 + 1/12 = 3/24 = 1/8. Since rate is the inverse of time, it will take them 1/(1/8) = 8 days to complete the task when they are working together.
