Salim=360m
sanjeev =500

ratio 3:4

so 360/3=120 meters per unit of time as a rate

120*4=480

500-480=20

Ratio of speed’s of Salim and Sanjeev is 3:4. Both participates in a race of 500 m. Salim has a start of 140 m. Then, Salim wins by how many metres?

(A) 18 m
(B) 20 m
(C) 22 m
(D) 24 m
(E) 26 m
sailam:Sanjeev = 3:4 so let speed be 3x and 4x. Time is constant for both and sailam distance is 360 and sanjeev distance is 500. so 3xt = 360 =>xt =120 .
lly 4xt = (500-y) ; y should be such that xt is 120.
Option b; 20 means 500-20 => 4xt=480
Hence xt =120 Answer is b (20)
