Chiming in on what everyone has been saying, it depends on the length of the passage. It also depends on how well you are doing during the exam. If you are doing well, the passage tend to be convoluted and technical..requiring more time.

One average, I think a good time for reading should be 1.5 mins and questions should be 1.5 minutes as well. Also, you can structure the verbal section so that you have more time for RC, if you are proficient in SC and CR.

I have noticed that when I read the passage thoroughly (spending a little more time to read), the questions seem easier and I spend less time answering them.
I have a question regarding RCs: on the real gmat, on average, how many questions can you expect to get per passage?
