Hi... I am contemplating accepting admission for the hybrid MBARice program. I applied to several programs - online, professional and hybrid depending on location. So far, I have been accepted into the online program at Rice. Though Houston has been home for the past 10 years, I have very recently been stationed over in the east coast (reason for not applying for the FT/Prof programs), thanks to COVID and all the mess it has created. I understand the value of networking and collaboration in an MBA program, and based on the information I am getting, there is little lost in that experience owing to the live sessions as well as number of group projects involved. Though Jones school is ranked at 25th for FT and 13th for Professional programs per USNews, the online program is not specifically ranked owing to its very recent inception. But the instructors are the same as the FT/Professional programs. The cost of the program is very close to the FT/Prof program costs, though the number of electives offered here are significantly lesser than those offered in the FT/Prof programs. For reasons that I prefer not to disclose here, now is the best time for me to do an MBA, if the opportunity. I am looking for perspective/advise/suggestions. What do i do? Should I accept the admission? TIA

Congrats on the admit to the Online MBA program. I wouldn't consider Ranking as a good indication of the school's reputation than the legacy of the school itself. Rice has a great network in Houston and getting the Rice "tag" and playing the Houston card can help you land a role back in Houston.
I really wouldn't advocate the Online MBA much. But as the degree is none the less the same, I think it will just be that, a paper. The MBA is an experience so if you want to see that Rice can help, go for it. Wait for UT Austin if you have applied there.
