Guys, you might find this interesting. I live in a 4br apartment in NYC. As can happen, one of my roommates has discovered bed bugs. I'm told that they spread quickly and that 30 percent of people do not show signs of being bitten by bed bugs. So I'm trying to figure out what the probability of at least 1 of us other 3 roommates not showing marks is, assuming that the bugs have already spread to us. I got 66%. Is that correct? I did probability of 1 plus probability of 2 plus probability of all 3.
Yes, you are correct.
P(No signs though bitten) = .3
P(Signs after bitten) = .7
Assuming bugs have spread to the whole house and all of you are being bitten,
P(All 3 will show signs) = .7*.7*.7 = .343
P(At least one of you will not show signs) = 1 - .34 = .66
