Background:
Used to be a very promising college athlete.
Did not really have enough time to perform well in class.
Settle for "a bit more than the bare minimum" (B- to B range) until huge injury: double fracture of tibia, coupled with fibula fracture and ankle ligaments torn. (2.54 Community College GPA at the time). Took a while to readjust to fully focused student life!
Attended an overall well recognised public School in California.
Increase in studying time resulted in drastic grade change results.
Majored in Accountancy. Graduated this May 2014.
Dean's list recipient for Spring 2013, Fall 2013, & Spring 2014.
Piled many awards in The School AIS department and the University Student Union. (leadership positions in different groups on campus).
Current summer Tax/Accounting Compliance Reporting Intern @ EY int'l Branch (South Africa) since my dream career field is international accounting.
Did not attend any of my undergrad recruiting events for the sole reason of the withdrawals that dedicating times to these events may have had on my urge to perform academically.
Did some administrative tasks and bookkeeping for my family's company.
Overall GPA: 3.00
Undergraduate GPA: 3.28
Major GPA: 3.32
Overall Accounting GPA: 3.51.
23 (& some months) years old.
GMAT Score: 690.
Now, all that I look for are advices from knowledgeable individuals on which business schools to realistically focus my applications on ? What should I be hopeful for: Top 5? Top 10? Top 10-20?
Will keep on persevering.
Enjoy your vacations!
Thanks.
